Facebook, Instagram services restored after ‘technical issue’ causes outage
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Facebook and Instagram users experienced outages Tuesday morning.
The outages were first reported around 9 a.m., according to Downdetector.com.
People in the Channel 8 newsroom were logged out of their Facebook accounts and unable to sign back in.
Downdetector reported that the outage peaked at 9:30 a.m., affecting more than 500,000 users.
About 11:20 a.m., a spokesman for Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, said service had been restored.
The spokesman, Andy Stone, said a “technical issue” caused the outage.
“We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience,” he said in a social media post.

Around 10:30 a.m., Downdetector reported that the outage was affecting over 75,000 Facebook users.
Some users have since been able to log back into Facebook.
