Food Fort Lincoln gearing up with back-to-school supplies

School is right around the corner and with that comes a need for supplies.
“It’s been a longer break this year than in years past so we are excited to get kids ready and started off on the right foot for a year of learning,” Michaela Akridge said.
The Food Fort Lincoln is offering school supplies to those families who may be struggling, especially given so many facing unemployment this year.
From pencils, notebooks to even protractors, they’ve got enough supplies to provide for 150 students.
Something Akridge said is a blessing for so many families.
“The little things that you may not think of that many people take for granted of having it stocked at home. Many of our Food Fort families don’t have those. So, it is a blessing to be able to supply them,” Akridge said.
They are still looking for just a few backpacks, specifically larger ones for middle or high schoolers.
If you’d like to donate, check out their website.
If you’d like to receive a backpack filled with supplies, the Food Fort will be at “29th & Holdrege” on Monday, August 3rd at 5:30pm, “N Chester St & W Dawes Ave” on Tuesday, Aug. 4th at 5:30pm and “13th & Saratoga” on Wednesday, Aug. 5th at 5:30pm.
