Omaha teen arrested for stealing, spitting on officers in Lincoln

A 17-year-old Omaha teenager got in trouble in Lincoln Wednesday after she was caught stealing from Gateway Mall two days in a row.

Officer Angela Sands with the Lincoln Police Department said a witness caught the teen going through cars in the parking lot. She’s also allegedly stole $235 in merchandise from Forever 21 and $90 in merchandise from Victoria’s Secret before she was caught.

When police tried to talk with the teenager about the crimes, Sands said she became uncooperative and spit on the officer. She then kicked and screamed in the backseat and broke a door handle on the police cruiser.

She was taken to The Bridge because officers believed she was intoxicated. While at The Bridge she spat on two employees.

She was referred for theft by shoplifting, vandalism, assault on a police officer and two counts of assault on a healthcare worker.

Two other women were with the 17-year-old at the time of this incident, witnesses reported they were involved in the shoplifting as well. 18-year-old Halima Khartoum of Omaha was cited for theft by shoplifting. 20-year-old Biola Eremeti, of Omaha, was cited for MIP and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Most of the stolen items were recovered from the vehicle the suspects arrived in. The teen caused $200 in damage to the police cruiser.
