Lancaster County deputies get 48 pounds of marijuana off the streets after traffic stop on I-80

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office arrested four Illinois men on Interstate 80 Sunday for possession of marijuana. 

Sheriff Terry Wagner said the men were driving in two vehicles that were following each other too closely, which prompted the deputy to call for back up and attempt to stop the vehicles east of Lincoln. 

One of the vehicles, a black Ford SUV, had a strong smell of marijuana, Wagner said. When searched, deputies found a 40 gallon trash bag with 48 pounds of vacuum sealed high grade marijuana inside. 

The men inside the other vehicle, a Black Infinity, was traveling with the Ford. Wagner said they believe they were coming from Colorado.

The men arrested are: 

22-year-old Brandon Cox from Chicago, 23-year-old Anthony Luna, from Lake in the Hills, 19-year-old Hunger Halburton from Peoria and 19-year-old Jesse Strickland from Peoria.

They were taken to the Lancaster County Jail on charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and evading the drug tax stamp.
