Giving Back: Crete barbershop offers free haircuts for kids

Diaz Bro’s, a barbershop in Crete is celebrating seven years of business. Owner Julian Diaz said the community has given so much to them, and it’s time to give back.

“I admire being here everyday and making new friends, seeing returning people, watching the kids grow,” Diaz said.

So they’re paying it forward with free haircuts for kids 12 and under on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 to 6:30.

“What better way to give back to the community than give free haircuts to the children, especially with the holidays around the corner,” Diaz said.

Diaz said events like this allow them to continue building those valuable relationships.

“It’s about watching the kids grow,” Diaz said. “I’ll see them like this and then in seven years I’ll see them again and they’re a whole different person. I’ve been cutting his hair since he was only one years old, when he was ready for his first haircut and this probably his 12th.”

Relationships like that have kept him in business, bringing clients from all over Nebraska to their little salon on 13th street in Crete.

Those clients have made their mark on them.

“I love it, it’s not a job for me anymore,” Diaz said.

In turn, the Diaz Bro’s are leaving their mark on Crete- one cut at a time.
