Lincoln man, three minors arrested for shooting BB guns

18-year-old Xavier Wheeler was lodged in jail Monday after he and three minors were caught shooting trash cans and pumpkins with an A-R style BB gun.

Police were called to the area of 35 and T on reports of Wheeler and the minors shooting at cars. Police weren’t able to find any damaged vehicles, Officer Angela Sands said.

While investigating, a Lincoln Police Officer smelled marijuana allegedly coming from Wheeler’s car. Sands said the officer searched a backpack belonging to Wheeler and found a handgun and marijuana.

Sands said the .9 mm handgun was stolen from an unlocked vehicle near 27th and Old Cheney on September 16.

Three AK-47 style BB guns were found in the car, Sands said.

Wheeler was arrested for possession of a stolen gun, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and discharging a spring loaded gun in city limits.

The three minors were referred to the county attorney’s office for discharging a spring loaded weapon in city limits.
