First-time voters cast ballots in Midterm Elections

A record number of voters have turned out for the 2018 Midterm Elections, some of those are casting ballots for the very first time.
“I was super excited to come today,” Olivia Brouer said. “I think it’s really important for the newest generation to come get our new ideas out there.”
Brouer said she felt the need to vote in this election for the first time because of how important some of the issues on the ballot are. She said she felt she could make a real impact on the lives of Nebraskans.
Another first time voter, Noah Post, said he came out to participate in this milestone as he’s now 18-years-old and he wants to encourage others to vote too.
“It may not seem like you’re making much of a difference,” Post said. “You may think it’s just one vote so it’s not going to matter, but I feel like it’s when so many people have that stand point that’s when it doesn’t make a difference.”
Both said they spent days researching the candidates because they wanted their first time voting to count.
