Missing Omaha man found dead along creek near Columbus
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities found the body of an Omaha man Tuesday, months after he went missing near Columbus.
Around 5:30 p.m., the Platte County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible human remains near Highway 30 and 370th Avenue.
Deputies and troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol searched the area and found a body, which authorities think is Jake Clark’s.
Clark disappeared after a traffic stop on Dec. 18. A deputy found his vehicle abandoned on a rural road.
Since then, the sheriff’s office said it has conducted several searches in the area by vehicle, foot and drone to no avail.
The body was found along Prairie Creek, about 2 miles southeast of where the vehicle was abandoned, the sheriff’s office said.
An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 402-564-3229 or Platte County Crime Stoppers at 402-563-4000.
