Bryan Health previews new April Sampson Cancer Center in south Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Plans made over 10 years ago for a cancer center have finally come to fruition in south Lincoln.
Bryan Health has built a 140,000-square-foot cancer facility at 40th Street and Rokeby Road to serve as the centerpiece of its new south campus.
John Sampson, the president of Sampson Construction, donated 29 acres of land for this project.
The facility was named for his wife, April, who died from breast cancer in 2016,
In Nebraska, over 75,000 people require cancer treatment every year.
This facility is state-of-the-art and houses every service a cancer patient needs.
Bryan Health said one of the biggest complaints from cancer patients was having to travel to different facilities for various treatments. The April Sampson Cancer Center was designed to eliminate that hassle.
Imaging, clinics, treatment centers, spas and more are all housed under one roof.
A ribbon-cutting and open house are scheduled for Saturday, April 13, from 1 to 4 p.m., with remarks from special guests, including Nebraska volleyball coach John Cook.
