Man accused of shooting Omaha officer last month charged with attempted murder

The man accused of shooting an Omaha Gang Unit Officer last month has been booked and faces attempted murder charges. 

Investigators say John Ezell shot and injured Officer Ken Fortune on September 11. Ezell was also shot and hospitalized until Wednesday when he was arrested. 

He’s been charged with attempted murder, assault on an officer and weapons charges. 

The officer, Fortune, returned to work last week.
