Channel 8’s Tuesday donation drive for Officer Herrera
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Channel 8 is holding a donation drive for Investigator Mario Herrera Tuesday from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. in the Channel 8 parking lot.
Investigator Herrera was shot when attempting to serve an arrest warrant for second-degree assault Wednesday, Aug. 26. He was in plainclothes at the time.
Since Investigator Herrera has undergone several surgeries but remains in critical condition.

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, Channel 8 plans to join the fight. There will be a donation drive at KLKN TV Studios, 3240 S 10th St, for Investigator Herrera and his family. The drive runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
We will be accepting in-person, drive-thru, and online donations. We will also be collecting notes for Investigator Herrera and his family as he recovers from his critical injuries.
All donations will go to the official fund for Investigator Herrera.
The event will comply with current DHM guidelines.
