Extra Mile Walk will help feed hungry children in southeast Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Food Bank of Lincoln is hosting an annual walk on Saturday to help feed children in southeast Nebraska.
The Extra Mile Walk raises money to fill backpacks with food for children and families in need.
The program serves over 6,000 students throughout the academic year.
Schools all over Lincoln are raising money in various ways, like penny drives, to support the child hunger program.
Maxey Elementary alone has raised $10,688 for this year’s event.
Money raised for Extra Mile Walk have resulted in more than 6 million meals over the last 17 years of the event.
The walk begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lincoln East High School and will go around Seacrest field.
