Eating out, without having to go out, couldn’t get any easier.

All you have to do is download the app Uber Eats, and place an order.

Channel 8 Eyewitness News reporter Bayley Bischof rode along with a driver to find out how it works.

Geoffrey Kann has been an Uber driver in Lincoln for two years and is now starting something new, delivering Uber Eats.

"Since I was a driver for so long, one day I opened the app and it invited me to do Uber Eats,” Kann said.

Uber Eats just launched in Lincoln Thursday

It’s an app that allows you to order food from a participating restaurant.

"We’re going to McDonalds for one order, we have a triple cheeseburger, a French fry and a 20 piece nugget,” Kann said during the ride-along.

The driver will pick it up and deliver it to wherever you are, for a fee ranging between $2 and $8.

"Here’s your order from McDonalds, and here’s your receipt,” he told a customer.

Kann said it’s catching on quickly and has advantages for everyone.

"I really like how it works,” Kann said. “There’s less downtime and more new fun faces to meet!"

So next time you’re hungry, you don’t have to get in your car, just pick up your phone.

"Hello! Uber Eats!"

The only downfall is that not all of Lincoln is eligible for Uber Eats yet.

Right now it just basically covers Hwy 77 to 70th street and near Superior down to Pioneers.
