A 54-year-old man is in jail for resisting arrest and possession of controlled substances.

Leonard Hiner, a Lincoln man, was pulled over at 48th and O street for not using his turn signal at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night.

Police said they know Hiner is involved in trafficking narcotics and asked him to exit the car. He refused.

Police said they continued to give him commands, and he kept refusing. Officers eventually attempted to physically remove him from the vehicle and police said he ripped his arms away and moved into the middle of the car.

Eventually, police said they were able to get Hiner out of the car and into handcuffs. Nobody was injured in the struggle.

In the car, police found a digital scale, suspected meth and marijuana, a spoon, syringe cap and baggies.

Hiner told police the meth was his, police said.

He was arrested for possession of controlled substances, resisting arrest, obstruction of a police officer, possession of marijuana less than an ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia.
