Man scammed over online payment app

On August 15, a 34-year-old man reported he used a "Cash App" to pay his girlfriend $1323 and later decided he would just pay her in person. Police said the victim canceled the transaction but the money was not refunded to his account.
He called customer service for the App and was told to purchase a $200 Google gift card and to read the numbers over the phone. The victim realized it was a scam and hung up," police said.
Police said the victim believed the App he downloaded was a scam or his online transaction was compromised.
