Construction career fair helps Lincoln students build a better future
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln high schoolers got to try their hand at a trade on Wednesday.
Construction Career Day is an event to show that there are other options after high school besides four-year institutes.
Dozens of construction and electrical companies showed up in the parking lot of Haymarket Park and put on exhibits to show the fun side of trade careers.
Students could operate Bobcats and backhoes, race each other in hammering nails, and even get a ride in an aerial work platform.
The event is hosted by the Home Builders Association of Lincoln, and this was its sixth year.
According to event directors, this was easily the biggest year yet. They were expecting 300 students, and well over 600 showed up.
