The Lincoln Police Department is warning construction workers to lock up their equipment after three sites were burglarized over the weekend.

"In two of them they were taking precautions. In one, equipment wasn’t locked up so you need to be aware people are targeting them and they need to lock up all equipment and have good lighting in the area," Lincoln Police Officer Angela Sands said.

In one case, $3,000 in equipment was stolen from a construction site near 14th and Yankee Hill. The manager of the site reported the crime early Tuesday morning, and said the tools were not locked up.

A site on West O lost $600 in tools and a third near 70th and Yankee Hill lost $300 in tools. Police said the tools were locked in secured containers at both of these sites.
