LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A report of suspicious activity led to a wanted man’s arrest Saturday in rural southeast Nebraska.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a home near Elmwood around 10 a.m.

Ronald Gallagher, 33, had stopped at the home near 334th and A streets and asked for gas, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies found Gallagher — who had an active felony warrant in Iowa — just north of the home.

They ordered Gallagher to come out of his vehicle, but he drove off, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies chased Gallagher and took him into custody after he drove off the road near 24th Street and Highway 34 near the Nebraska-Iowa border.

He was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including possession of a controlled substance.  Gallagher is awaiting extradition to Iowa.
