Lincoln woman accused of killing husband in 2023 held without bail

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln woman accused of giving her husband a lethal dose of fentanyl last year is being held without bail.

On Monday, Lancaster County Judge Thomas Zimmerman ordered that no bond would be allowed for 41-year-old Amanda Wright.

Police arrested Wright last week in the killing of her husband 38-year-old Zachary Svoboda.  She is charged with first-degree murder.

On Aug. 23, officers found 38-year-old Zachary Svoboda dead at a home near 48th and Adams streets.

An autopsy showed Svoboda died from acute intoxication due to methamphetamine and fentanyl, police said.

Wright had “carried out” a plan by giving her husband a lethal dose of fentanyl, according to an arrest affidavit.

A drug investigation led to Wright’s arrest on April 25.

Investigators are working with the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office in the ongoing investigation.

Wright’s next court date is set for June 6.
