Southeast Nebraska couple arrested in child abuse case
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska State Patrol said Wednesday that it has arrested a Fairbury couple on multiple charges in a child abuse case.
Troopers began investigating in April, when they received a report that a child had been sexually assaulted.
Investigators arrested 40-year-old Brandon Myers on May 2 on suspicion of child abuse, third-degree assault and third-degree sexual assault of a child.
Myers works at the Jefferson County Jail, according to the patrol. He was taken to the jail in neighboring Thayer County.
His wife, 44-year-old Bobbi Myers was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of child abuse and failure to report child abuse. She was placed in the Jefferson County Jail.
The patrol said it is withholding additional detail to protect the victim.
Anyone with information should call the patrol at 402-471-0112.
Jamie Morris, a neighbor of the couple, said the case is “disgusting.”
Her husband, Wesley Morris, said the case disturbs him as a father.
“I’m going to go to war for the kids all the time,” he said. “I’ve got children of my own, and I’ll be damned if something happened to my children.”
Wesley Morris encouraged abuse victims to come forward.
“It’s OK to not be OK, and it’s OK to talk to somebody when you feel like you’re not,” he said. “Let your voice be heard.”
