30-year-old man dies after pickup crashes into Lincoln house

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man died from his injuries Tuesday after a crash in southeast Lincoln.

The crash happened just after 2 p.m. on 56th Street, near Holmes Lake, according to the Lincoln Police Department.

Police said a pickup truck rear-ended a northbound car on 56th near Pioneers Boulevard.

The driver of the pickup lost control and went off the road, police said.

The pickup rolled and crashed into a house at 56th and Cooper Avenue, ending up on its side.

Police said the driver, a 30-year-old man, was thrown from the pickup.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

No one else was injured in the scene, police said.

Channel 8 reporters at the scene saw heavy damage to the home’s attached garage.

But police said the structure is safe, pending further investigation.

LPD said 56th is closed from Prescott Avenue to Stockwell Street.

The crash is still under investigation.
