Josh Caron homers twice as Nebraska forces second game against Indiana

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two Josh Caron home runs lifted No. 2 seed Nebraska over No. 3 Indiana on Saturday morning in a Big Ten tournament semifinal game.
The Huskers won 4-2 at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, forcing an evening rematch with the Hoosiers for a spot in the championship game.
Indiana scored first, on a double by Nick Mitchell in the first inning.
The Hoosiers loaded the bases late in the second inning, but Nebraska averted disaster when first baseman Ben Columbus got the third out.
In the top of the third, Caron homered to left field, sending Josh Overbeek and Riley Silva to home plate and giving the Huskers a 3-1 lead.
Indiana quickly cut that lead to 1 when Mitchell scored from third base on a sacrifice fly by Brock Tibbitts.
Both defenses were stingy over the next four innings, with Husker pitcher Will Walsh allowing no hits.
But in the top of the eighth, Caron hit another home run to grow the Huskers’ lead.
Walsh pitched a complete game for Nebraska, allowing six hits and striking out five batters.
The Huskers will face the Hoosiers again at 5 p.m. Saturday. The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
