Two vehicles collided at Lincoln intersection with broken traffic light, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Two vehicles crashed Wednesday afternoon at a southeast Lincoln intersection.

It happened about 12:30 p.m. at 56th Street and Pioneers Boulevard, according to the Lincoln Police Department.

Police said the driver of an SUV thought she had a green light as she crossed Pioneers.

But the traffic light was actually out, police said, and the SUV collided with a pickup truck.

The driver of the SUV had possible minor injuries, but no one was taken to a hospital, LPD said.

The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department said the traffic signals are working again.

LTU reminded drivers that they should treat broken signals as a stop sign and come to a complete stop.
