LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A traffic infraction Monday in northeast Nebraska led to the arrest of a wanted Florida man, the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office says.

Around 8:10 a.m., a deputy pulled over a speeding vehicle, driven by 44-year-old Dillard McCoy Cook of Florida, on Highway 275 near Stanton.

The deputy learned that Cook had an active felony arrest warrant in Rock County, Illinois, for failure to appear, the sheriff’s office said.

He was taken into custody and booked at the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said Cook waived extradition back to Illinois and will remain in custody until being picked up.
