Westlake Ace Hardware and Salvation Army helping those in need beat the heat

Fan Drive

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Local organizations are helping Lincolnites stay cool during the hot months.

For the 12th year in a row, Westlake Ace Hardware and the Salvation Army are collecting donations to buy fans for those in need.

“Not everyone has the same means to be able to necessarily afford air conditioning,” said Jon Cerny, the general manager at the Ace at 70th and Vine streets. “So just having that air circulating is really important just to help keep people cool and safe.”

Donations are raised by rounding up on purchases in any of the six Westlake Ace locations.

You can also donate online through Westlake Ace’s website.

Last year, Lincoln locations raised $6,500, equating to 368 fans, through this drive.

Nationally, over 58,000 fans were distributed in 2023.
