Nebraska inmate convicted of first-degree murder in 1977 dies at hospital

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An inmate being held at the Reception and Treatment Center died Saturday at a Lincoln hospital.

Michael Prim, 71, began his life sentence in 1977 for a first-degree murder in Douglas County.

The cause of death is still under investigation, but Prim was being treated for a medical condition, according to officials.

Whenever an inmate dies while in custody, a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
