16-year-old’s body found at Holmes Lake after water rescue call

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 16-year-old boy was found dead after swimming in Holmes Lake on Thursday night, police say.

About 9:30 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the lake on a report that a swimmer had disappeared from view.

Divers from Lincoln Fire & Rescue, plus air and marine units from the Nebraska State Patrol, came to search for the boy.

He was found dead a short time later, according to the Lincoln Police Department.

Police said at this time, his death is considered accidental.

The investigation is ongoing.
