Lincoln church named to National Register of Historic Places
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – History Nebraska announced Thursday that First United Methodist Church of Lincoln is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The church is near 48th and Adams streets, right by Nebraska Wesleyan University’s campus.
The oldest part of the church was built in 1909 and was designed by Alfred W. Woods, who also designed eight other churches in Lincoln.

First United is a domed, two-story building set half a story above street level.
The dome’s interior is decorated with more than 1,000 pieces of stained glass and features a portrait of Abraham Lincoln.
The National Register of Historic Places is the nation’s inventory of properties deemed worthy of preservation.
