High school football preview: Lincoln Southwest looks to build under second-year coach

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Southwest football is entering its second season under head coach Grant Traynowicz.

“This year, I feel coming into it, we are further ahead,” he said. “We have the culture established, or more established than last year.”

The longtime Silver Hawks assistant coach led his team to a 3-6 season last year.

“I feel like this year, we have a ton of seniors who really care a lot about what we’re building here,” said senior defensive lineman and offensive tackle Cole Erickson.

Lincoln Southwest also returns senior wideout and Husker commit Jackson Carpenter, the team’s receiving leader last season.

The Silver Hawks start their year at home versus Lincoln North Star on Friday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m.
