Driver trapped after two-vehicle crash on rural northeast Nebraska highway

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two people were hospitalized Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash on a rural highway in northeast Nebraska.

The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 8:30 a.m. at the junction of Highway 15 and Highway 32, just southeast of Norfolk.

A car was heading south on Highway 15 when a westbound van pulled in front of it, the sheriff’s office said  The collision sent both vehicles into the eastbound lanes of Highway 32.

The 73-year-old driver of the southbound car had to be extricated from the car.

The driver and the passenger of that vehicle were then taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Three people in the van were treated at the scene by paramedics but were not hospitalized.

The sheriff’s office said both vehicles are considered a total loss.
