Midweek gradual warming; meager chance at rain soon

Tuesday is expected to be dominated by blue, sunny skies throughout the day. Temperatures will end up warming then from the low and mid 50s to the lower 80s, now getting a few days into early September.

Temperatures will gradually warm today and into Wednesday, largely due to southerly winds from to a large region of high pressure off to the east.

Stormcast

Temperatures get warmer for everyone, but the heat will really be felt in western Nebraska. After highs in the mid-90s on Monday, the northwest corner is expected to warm toward triple digits into this afternoon.

Stormcast State Temp

Warm, dry weather with gusty winds and dry vegetation will make for higher fire danger in the Panhandle again through tonight. A Red Flag Warning is in place to show who should avoid actions that could lead to a fire sparking that would spread quickly under these circumstances.

Red Flag Warn Tues

The warmest day of the week will be Wednesday, as temperatures almost close in on 90 degrees again.

4day

A cold front Wednesday evening into Thursday is what we’ll eventually feel in the cooler response you see by Friday.

Wed Spc

That cold front will also be responsible for some rain chances, but coverage of some isolated thunderstorms looks low and spotty at this time. The Weather Prediction Center over the next five days only has eastern Nebraska maybe receiving up to 0.10″.
