Spotty chances with cooler days ahead
Rain chances over the next two days looks to be spotty at best. No significant accumulations are expected, other than maybe a couple hundredths of an inch – if that. Yet this is our best chance for the next week or so.
For southeast Nebraska on Thursday, spotty showers will appear on radar through the late morning and early afternoon hours with whatever cloud cover moves in and out along the front. But heading toward the evening, expect clearing skies before our fall-like weather returns Friday and Saturday.
Spotty chances on Friday may be hard to come by as well. One of the latest versions of Stormcast does take some morning scattered showers through central Nebraska that look to clear by the afternoon. But once more, dry air may be hard to overcome for this to amount to much.
The cold front will not only bring cooler air and at least a chance at rain, but smoke will also be pulled in from the north from Canadian wildfires. Moderate concentrations at the surface are possible through northern Nebraska, but most will not see impacts at the surface from this other than noticing the hazy skies.
Temperatures will fall to the lower 80s on Thursday and then the 70s by Friday!
Friday and Saturday look like the best days coming up with those cooler temperatures because we get hot again next week. Already on Sunday temperatures will warm back to near normal for this point in September.
But the Husker forecast looks like a great one to enjoy – and all day! The volleyball team will play earlier in the afternoon (2 p.m.) while football will kickoff by Saturday evening (6:30 p.m.), so the weather should be wonderful to be out and about on the town!
