Metal compacter catches on fire at salvage auto parts store in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A metal compactor baler caught fire Tuesday morning at a salvage auto parts store in north Lincoln.

Around 11 a.m., Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews were called out to U-Pull-It near North 70th Street and Fletcher Avenue.

Additional crews were needed to help relay about 1,200 feet of hose to the location of the compactor, LFR said.

No one was injured, but the fire caused about $750,000 in damage, according to LFR.

The blaze was started accidentally, authorities said.
