Volunteers serve holiday meals at Matt Talbot

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – For the seventh year in a row, the Lincoln Northeast Kiwanis Club gathered at Matt Talbot Kitchen and served holiday dinners to people in need.
“It feels really good to give back to the community, especially this year when there is so many people that are in need that never had to be in need before,” Lenora Hanna, a volunteer said.
Due to the pandemic, the way the dinners were distributed changed. Chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, dinner rolls and more, were all put into to-go boxes rather then banquet style like years past.
“Usually around Christmas night this room is full of people sitting down eating and being able to come back for seconds,” Hanna said. “This year it’s going to be a little different, they’ll just come in and get their container of food and go wherever to eat.”
The volunteers served around 150 dinners to people in need at Matt Talbot Kitchen.
