Crews battling grass fire in Gage County

BEATRICE, Neb. (KLKN)– First responders on Sunday are battling a grass fire in Gage County.
A Channel 8 reporter noticed smoke from the fire just after 1:30 p.m.
Lisa Wiegand, Gage County Emergency Manager, tells Channel 8 the fire is about 1.5 miles south of Rockford Lake.
She says crews are successfully fighting the fire right now. Wiegand said no evacuations are necessary at this time.
Wymore Fire Chief Mark Meints said the fire is under control and they are back at the station cleaning up.
Meints said the fire started from a combine while it was harvesting in a field.
