Fire causes $125,000 in damage to Hickman home

HICKMAN, Neb. (KLKN) — A house fire in Hickman early Thursday morning required the response of multiple agencies.

About 12:30 a.m., the owner of a home near 68th Street and Prairie View Lane woke up to find smoke billowing through the house, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

He saw flames on the back side of the house and put them out with a hose, the sheriff’s office said.

But when Hickman firefighters got there, the fire had reignited.

Hickman called in the Bennet, Firth and the Southeast fire departments.

It took firefighters about an hour and a half to put out the fire and all hot spots, authorities said.

Everyone made it out of the house safely, the sheriff’s office said.

The damage is estimated at $125,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
