Man loses over $2,000 in downtown Lincoln robbery, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was tackled and robbed Sunday morning in downtown Lincoln, police say.

Around 8 a.m., the victim got a text telling him his vehicle was involved in a crash and needed to be towed.

The victim checked on his vehicle near Eighth and R streets and found that it wasn’t damaged, police said.

He called back the person, who claimed they were with Park & Go.

LPD said the victim entered his building, and a man dressed in all black tackled him from behind.

The victim’s wallet fell to the ground, and the man ran away, according to police.

A woman approached the victim as he gathered his things and “offered help,” police said.

The woman then picked up over $2,000 in cash that spilled out of the wallet, got into a gray SUV and drove off on Eighth Street.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
