Beautiful day to honor our veterans; rain chances midweek

Since Friday, most of the rain fell west through south-central Nebraska. Hastings saw about an inch of rain, with totals dropping off toward the Missouri River.

Rain Weekend Nov 8 10

While the recent rain helps, we still need a lot more to catch up to average precipitation through the fall months. Lincoln and Grand Island are still running over 2″ below average, while Hastings still is in the hole by about 1.5″.

Fall Precip 3 Cities

We will see rain chances increase again later in the week, but beautiful weather is expected for us to honor veterans today. After a cool morning with temperatures in the upper 30s, we’ll be slightly cooler during the afternoon after a weak cold front sweeps through early today.

Veterans Day

Other than Monday and a cooler day with rain Wednesday, most of this week will be quite mild in the 60s still.

Week Ahead

Scattered showers will be possible on and off across eastern Nebraska throughout the day on Wednesday.

Wed Morning Showers

And getting a first glimpse toward the end of the month (toward November 19-20), overnight temperatures may be enough to support some wintry precipitation mixing in by next Tuesday night and Wednesday night.

A lot of details will change between now and then, but we’ll certainly be watching that timeframe very closely for our first onset of some winter.
