LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A robber who had sticky fingers in more ways than one was sentenced Thursday.

Izaiah Bartu of Lincoln got 20 to 32 years in prison for robbery and attempted possession of a firearm by a felon.

The 25-year-old could be eligible for parole in 10 years.

On Feb. 27, Bartu walked into the Kwik Shop at 27th and W streets with a Hostess cinnamon roll box over his hand.

Police said that pastry box was hiding a handgun.

Bartu tapped the box on the counter and demanded that the clerk open the cash register, according to court documents.

She gave him about $132, and he left.

Officers found Bartu nearby with a gun in his backpack, an arrest affidavit says.

Police said he had hidden the money in his waistband and tried to put it down a drain in jail.
