Two arrested in $2,000 shoplift at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two people were arrested Saturday after a shoplift at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Lincoln, police say.
Officers were sent to the sporting goods store at 61st and O streets just after 5:45 p.m. on the report of shoplifting.
One of the suspects, 47-year-old Lakisha Meridy of Omaha, was found trying to hide several bags of merchandise under a clothing rack, according to LPD.
Officials said an officer grabbed her arm and told her to put her hands behind her back. She began pulling away and it turned into a struggle.
Meridy was shocked by a Taser and then taken into custody, LPD said.
Another officer got into a struggle with 25-year-old Chaan Wichar of Omaha. She was also arrested, according to police.
Officers said a small prybar to remove security tags was found in her purse.
In total, almost $2,000 worth of merchandise was recovered.
Meridy and Wichar were taken to the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of theft by shoplifting, resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.
