Nebraska hires its former defensive analyst as outside linebackers coach

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A former Nebraska football staff member said Monday that he is returning to the program.
Phil Simpson is now the Huskers’ outside linebackers coach, according to his X bio.
He declared that there was “NO PLACE LIKE NEBRASKA” and used hashtags and emojis to say he was leaving Florida State for the Cornhuskers.

Simpson was Nebraska’s defensive quality control coach in 2023 and was a defensive analyst at Florida State this season.
