Husker volleyball fan bought tickets to Final Four almost a year ago

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – One Husker volleyball fan is thanking his lucky stars after he bought tickets to the Final Four many months ago.

Brian Peterson has been taking his family to Nebraska games for years now.

Last year, after a heartbreaking loss to Texas in the championship, Peterson was confident that the team would make it to Louisville this season.

So he decided to take a leap of faith with his son-in-law.

“Back in January, we said, ‘Let’s go ahead and buy tickets and commit before prices go up,'” Peterson said. “So it’s been an exciting journey to watch them sweep so many schools.”

And it’s a good thing he bought his tickets to the game so early.

The seats available at the KFC Yum! Center for Thursday night’s match between Nebraska and Penn State are around $200 to $400.

Flights are also a huge expense.

If you were to fly out on Wednesday and come back on Monday, it’s almost $800.

Peterson and his son-in-law are taking off from the Lincoln Airport on Wednesday morning, headed straight to Louisville.

“I’m most excited about the competition and just seeing that level of volleyball,” he said. “Hopefully it’s us in those competitions, but we’re going to see some wonderful volleyball.”

But Peterson said he’s even more glad that he’ll be able to make lasting memories on the trip, no matter how the games go.

“It’ll be great for building our relationship between me and my son-in-law, and it’s something that we’ll remember forever,” he said.
