Drones over Lincoln? Man says he can’t explain lights he caught on video
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Have the drone sightings reported on the East Coast spread to Nebraska?
A Lincoln man provided Channel 8 with videos he took at Wilderness Ridge this week.
Some of the videos show orbs floating in the sky. It appears that the aircraft are shining lights on the ground below.
“I don’t know exactly what these are,” Zach said. “There’s different sizes, different shapes. But there’s definitely something there.”
The sightings started Monday night, he said.
“I saw two objects rise from below the tree line west of me,” Zach said. “And the one on the right just sped off quickly.”
He said he saw the lights again on Tuesday.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office referred Channel 8 to a joint statement from several federal agencies.
“Having closely examined the technical data and tips from concerned citizens, we assess that the sightings to date include a combination of lawful commercial drones, hobbyist drones, and law enforcement drones, as well as manned fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and stars mistakenly reported as drones,” the statement says. “We have not identified anything anomalous and do not assess the activity to date to present a national security or public safety risk.”
