Online retailers to collect more sales tax in 2019

Online retailers in Nebraska are planning on collecting more sales tax in 2019.

That means when you buy online, you may see your totals rise a little bit.

Tuesday was the deadline for larger online retailers to start collecting sales tax from Nebraska residents, but some sites like Amazon were already doing so.

Nebraska Tax Commissioner Tony Fulton said, they plan to enforce the law on businesses with more than $100,000 worth of sales or at least 200 separate transactions a year.
