Nebraska State Patrol urging caution ahead of storm

It’s been a record year for precipitation in Nebrska–and that looks to continue through the New Year.

Dangerous conditions are expected across the western and central parts of the state, with the National Weather Service predicting up to a foot of snow in some areas.

Lincoln and Omaha, look to remain mainly free of snow, with rain and very little snow accumulation, but may be affected by fog.

The Nebraska State Patrol has issued a warning to drivers traveling on the Interstate 80 Thursday and Friday.

Authorities say to carry extra blankets, make sure your car has full tank and leave plenty of time to get to your destination.

Temperatures are expected to drop throughout Thursday in Lincoln and across the state, bringing with it the possibility of slick conditions.

NSP will have extra troopers on patrol for stranded motorists.
