Info on students and staff at Lincoln Catholic schools stolen in cyberattack

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Catholic schools in Lincoln were affected by a cyberattack, the superintendent said Thursday.
The Rev. Lawrence Stoley said in a letter to parents that the Diocese of Lincoln learned this week about a cyberattack on a software company called PowerSchool, which discovered the breach on Dec. 28.
The hacker used “compromised” credentials to get into the PowerSchool software, which the diocese said is used by many school districts around the world.
They then downloaded data about students and staff in Diocese of Lincoln schools, according to the letter.
PowerSchool is working to determine what type of information was accessed, the diocese said.
Stoley said he would share more information with families as PowerSchool releases it.
