Man attacked with rusty machete in north Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are investigating an early Wednesday morning machete attack in north Lincoln.

Around 4:30 a.m., officers were sent to the area of North 27th and W streets on a report of an assault and robbery.

Police said a man had borrowed a vehicle from an “acquaintance” and was meeting to return it to him.

When he got out of the van, a man pulled out a rusty machete and swung it at the victim, according to LPD.

The victim’s left elbow was cut.  The assailant also sprayed the victim’s face with a “can of mace or something similar,” police said.

He was taken to a hospital to be treated for the cut to his arm.

The attacker has been described as a man in his 50s wearing a sweater and pants driving a red Chevy van.
