LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol arrested a Scottsbluff man Wednesday after a multicounty pursuit of a stolen vehicle in the Panhandle.

Just after 11 a.m., the patrol learned about a stolen Chevrolet Impala that was traveling east on Highway 92, just east of Gering.

A trooper found the vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver never stopped and accelerated to over 110 mph, according to the patrol.

The patrol said the pursuit lasted 20 minutes on the highway, with the suspect driving in the wrong lane numerous times.

As the vehicle approached Bridgeport, it slowed down. Another trooper used stop sticks to slow the vehicle further.

According to the patrol, the vehicle hit a parked car and several mailboxes as it traveled through town before coming to a stop at Fifth and P streets.

The driver, 32-year-old Jeremie Steen, was then taken into custody without incident.

Steen was arrested on suspicion of theft by unlawful taking of $5,000-plus, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving and numerous other drug and traffic violations.

He was lodged in the Scotts Bluff County Jail.
