LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are on the search for a driver who led authorities on a chase across Lincoln on Thursday.

Around 8:55 p.m., officers tried pulling over a silver sedan in the Belmont area, but the driver took off, according to police.

LPD called in the help of a Nebraska State Patrol helicopter to provide updates as the sedan went through yards, ran red lights and drove onto oncoming traffic.

About 30 minutes later, authorities placed stop sticks near Gateway Mall — but they were unsuccessful in bringing the sedan to a stop, police said.

LPD and the patrol received a request to terminate the response at around 9:30 p.m.

The sedan eventually stopped in a parking garage near 10th and Q streets just before 10 p.m., but the driver was nowhere to be found.

Officers also discovered that the vehicle was stolen, according to police.

Investigators think the driver got into another vehicle before leaving the parking garage.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
