No. 13 Texas Tech hands Huskers first loss of the season in walk-off fashion

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The No. 19-ranked Nebraska softball team took its first loss of the season Saturday afternoon, falling 6-5 to No. 13 Texas Tech in walk-off fashion at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida.
The Huskers held a 5-0 lead in in the bottom of the sixth inning before the Red Raiders rattled off 6 unanswered runs in the final two innings.
Nebraska had Texas Tech down to its final out in the bottom of the seventh inning before an error by Ava Kuszak allowed 2 opposing runs to cross home plate, ending the game.
The Red Raiders ultimately took advantage of four Husker errors to mount a comeback with a four-run sixth inning and a two-run seventh inning, with five of the six runs scoring with two outs.
Jordyn Bahl (1-1) took the loss despite not allowing any earned runs throughout the game. Bahl pitched the entire game, racking up 1o strikeouts and walking zero batters.
Olivia DiNardo led the Huskers from the plate with three RBIs on two hits. Kuszak also tallied two hits and scored two runs.
The Red Raiders were led by Mihyia Davis with three hits and two runs. NiJaree Canady hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to spark the comeback.
Nebraska will be back in action tomorrow in the NFCA Leadoff Classic to take on No. 24 Mississippi State.
